Introduction
Dr. Tong is the founder, CEO and CTO of Genev Limited, which is a Start-Up company focused on innovative, sustainable and smart electric mobility and their infrastructures. But before leaving his comfort zone, to venture out into entrepreneurship, to pursue his dreams and passion, he was an aerospace engineer, an aerospace scientist and an university lecturer in aeronautical and mechanical engineering, where he enjoyed 18 years of professional experiences in the area of aircraft structural risk and reliability analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics, aircraft structural design, and aircraft structural integrity, and university lecturing and teaching.

Dr. Tong began his career in 1999 after graduating from university. Dr. Tong joined then the Air Vehicles Division (AVD) of the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) of Australia as a research engineer and later as a research scientist from 1999 to 2007. At AVD-DSTO, Dr. Tong has worked in the fields of aircraft structural risk and reliability, propulsion systems life management, helicopter structural integrity, aircraft structural lifing methodologies and tools, and fatigue crack growth modelling and fracture research. With the full support of the  AVD-DSTO, he completed his PhD with the University of Sydney in 2006.

Between 2008 to 2013, Dr. Tong moved to Germany and worked as focal point on the Airbus A380-800 Full-Scale Fatigue Test (FSFT), Residual Strength Test (RST) and Tear Down Investigation programmes for the complete forward and after fuselage (FAF) sections, and was a member of the A380-800 FSFT steering committee.

Following the 5.5 years stint in Germany, Dr. Tong moved to Hong Kong where he became a University lecturer in mechanical, aviation and aeronautical engineering and Programme leader of the AE (Deputy) and ATE programmes with the HK PolyU from 2013 to 2018.

In 2018, Dr. Tong founded his own company, Genev Limited, which pursues a future of innovative, sustainable and smart electric mobility and infrastructures. Genev is located at Hong Kong Science Park (HKSTP) since 2020. Dr. Tong has enjoyed a career in various areas of aviation including aviation operations and management, aircraft design and aeronautical engineering, and accumulated experiences working as a researcher, an engineer, academia, leader and now, as an entrepreneur.
